# It’s Time to Play: The Grand Opening of Ludens
## Save the Date: Opening Day – June 28th, 2025
It’s hard to believe we’re just weeks away from opening the doors to Ludens. What started as a dream, a spark of inspiration, and a deep calling to create a space where movement truly matters is finally becoming real.
We’re celebrating with an Open Gym Day from 10 AM to 4 PM. Think of it as a playful invitation to experience what Ludens is all about. Drop in anytime to take part in fun challenges, win prizes, connect with others, and get a taste of the energy we’re bringing into this space. Come as you are — whether you’re a total beginner, an athlete, or just movement-curious.
## Where We’re At Now
We’ve got the keys in hand and the floor mats laid out. That in itself felt like a small ceremony. The space, once bare and echoey, is now beginning to hum with possibility. We’ve brought in dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, gymnastic rings, and a custom rig is on its way. The big pieces, such as HVAC and electrical, are still being worked on, but each update brings us closer to home.
And this is just the beginning. Over time, we’ll expand our equipment and resources. From day one, we’re prioritizing quality movement over flash. At Ludens, it’s not about the machines — it’s about what your body can learn to do.
## What to Expect at Ludens
We’ll offer four core class types, each rooted in a deep respect for the body and its capacity to move, adapt, and express.
Strength
Bodyweight and resistance-based strength training is designed to help you build capability — not just muscle. Expect to use weights, but also learn how to master your own body. This class will empower you to develop functional strength that you can apply in real life.
Yoga
Traditional yoga rooted in all eight limbs goes beyond the poses. We explore breath, focus, discipline, and presence. It's not about mere flexibility; it’s about cultivating awareness and connection to your body. Find stillness within movement and learn to embrace the flow of life around you.
HIT (High-Intensity Training)
Join us for a fast-paced, heart-pumping class inspired by CrossFit and HYROX-style training. We don’t endorse brands — we endorse intensity, intention, and fun. Expect to push your limits while having a great time. This class offers the challenge you need to elevate your fitness levels.
Movement
This is where things get exploratory. We dive into locomotion patterns, coordination drills, movement terminology, and qualities of expression — inspired by movement experts like Ido Portal. This class encourages you to discover new ways to move and find joy in the freedom of exploration.
## Why Ludens?
Because we were never meant to sit still. We were meant to play, to move, to fall, get up, and learn how to move better the next time. “Ludens” means those who play — and that spirit is what we’re building this studio around.
This space is for everyone. It’s not just for athletes or yogis, nor is it just for “fit” people. If you have a body, you belong here. Here at Ludens, we celebrate all forms of movement and the joy that comes with it.
